Mindfulness is the act of slowing down and noticing what is happening. The purpose of mindfulness is to calm our thoughts and focus on the present moment.

It may seem a bit silly at first, and if you feel that way, that’s totally okay!
2. When you finish the guided meditation, take a minute to think how you are feeling.
3. Write the emotions you are feeling at that moment on your gratitude journal.
REMEMBER!
Now you have a NEW TOOL: SENSORY CHECK-IN
When you are feeling overwhelmed, sit in a quiet place and use each of your 5 senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste) to identify with your surroundings.
What do you see, hear, touch and smell?
The point is to focus on the sensory input you are receiving from the world around you instead of the invasive, anxious thoughts you are feeling. And when those anxiety-provoking thoughts do threaten to take over, remind you to dismiss them and imagine them floating away.
