Dancing puppets!

Let's make animal dancing puppets!

You will need:

  • Paper rolls or plastic cups
  • Paint, markers or coloured paper
  • Glue
  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Popsicle sticks (can be replaced with pencils)
  • Beads, bottle caps (optional)

Instructions:
  1. Grab a paper roll or plastic cup and paint it with the colour of the animal you want. If you don't have paint, you can colour it with markers or cover it with coloured paper.
  2. Punch 4 holes on the bottom of the body to make the legs. (You can carefully do this with the tip of a pencil)
    • Now, use one piece of yarn for the 2 front legs and another one for the back legs. You can tie beads or bottle caps to the ends for the feet.
  3. On the opposite side of the paper roll, punch 2 holes (one on each end)
  4. Using another paper roll, make the head of the animal you want (you can cut it in half and use the other half for the ears).
    • Punch one hole in the head.
    • And thread a long piece of yarn through the upper body and head (like the pictures below)
  5. Finally, tie the other end of the threads to a popsicle stick, to be able to move your puppet! If you don't have popsicle sticks you can just use pencils.
These are 2 videos that show you step by step how to do the puppet:

And here are some puppets for inspiration!

That's it! Now you can have a dance party or perform a show with your animal puppets!

Values: Self-care

SELF-CARE

No matter what age, we should all be making time to take care of ourselves mentally and physically.

Self-Care can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

There may be some activities that you enjoy a lot more than others.

1. Take the time to  think on activities that can help you  develop a self-loving attitude towards yourselves.
2.So figure out what works best for you and make a list of self-care activities you will enjoy. It’s all about what will make you happy and relaxed!
3.Self-care is about integrating positive habits into your daily routine, so you will have to do ONE "self-care" activitie every day for a week.

Look at my "self-care" checklist!

Now you have to do your own "Self-care" checklist!

These are just a few examples of self-care activities that you might enjoy…

1 – Calm Down Yoga

2- Body Melting

This is a quick yet very effective way to get you to loosen up and calm down. When you start to feel tense, your body physically tenses up. So the best way to relax your mind is to relax your body.
Stand frozen like a statue and then slowly start ‘melting’ your body toward the floor by relaxing your muscles. Take big deep breathes each time you ‘melt’ until you are laying on the floor, complete relaxed and ‘melted’.

3 – Journaling
I know it seems repetitive that journaling is always brought up when you talk about self-care, but there’s a reason for it… it works!

Write down your feelings… no matter how angry you are or what you want to say. Even if you are mad at someone. Write it all down.

4 – Try Coloring
Seems simple right? But here’s the catch. There are two kinds of coloring. Angry coloring and calming coloring. If you are in a mood and displaying some real anger, take a blank piece of paper and just scribble as hard and as fast as you can.

Once you get that all out, you can move on to calm coloring. Get a colouring book to keep in your room so whenever you need it, you can do some calm coloring. It really can be a great stress reliever.

5- Listen to Calming Music

When it comes to stress and anger, you can have a really hard time regulating those emotions.
Especially during times of stress like being stuck at home, or having a hard time at school.

This is when self-care becomes especially important!
