Values: EMOTIONS

What are EMOTIONS?
Mindfulness Poem about Relating To Feelings. Great way to get kids talking about their emotions.

Emotions are also called feelings.

Emotions give us information about what we are going through at the time and how we should respond to that experience.

With any emotion, your body and mind will experience changes. Emotions are completely natural and are always changing as different things happen to us.

You experience emotions every day. In fact, you most likely experience many different emotions every day!

Learning to identify and regulate emotions is a big job...

Let's start learning how to IDENTIFY emotions

1. Watch the movie "INSIDE OUT"

Inside Out. Del revés - AACIC

Here is the Link so you can watch the movie.
Flechas hacia abajo – Ananda Español

2. In Inside Out, different emotions take their turns at the control panel in Riley’s brain. Her thoughts, words and behaviors are influenced by which emotion is in charge.

A good place for you to start identifying your emotions is with mood tracking.

Mood tracker is a simply way to keep a record of your mood every day.

Next week you have to use your MOOD TRACKER!

Use the list of emotions to describe how do you feel today.
You can choose as many emotions as you like!

Look at the example:

What is Pointillism?

Pointillism is an art style using small patterns of colored dots to create an image.
The technique was developed by artists Georges Seurat and Paul Signac in 1886 as their art was inspired by the impressionism movement.

Look at all those dots!
This entire piece was created just using dots of color layered and overlapped to create color, shape and shade

Now it is your turn!

Materials you are going to need:

  • Paper or or printable pages
  • Watercolors
  • Q-tips and paint brush
  • Small container of water
Instructions:

  1. Use a paintbrush to apply water to all the paints. You need to make sure the paints are wet enough to pick up color with the cotton swabs.
  2. Use the cotton swab to apply color to the paper. Use one swab for each color!

ICE-CREAM IN A BAG

Ice Cream/ Helados

What you'll need:

1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup milk or half & half
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
6 tablespoons rock salt
1 pint-size plastic food storage bag (e.g., Ziploc)
1 gallon-size plastic food storage bag
Ice cubes

How to make it:

1.Fill the large bag half full of ice, and add the rock salt.
2.Seal the bag.
3.Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag, and seal it.
4. Place the small bag inside the large one, and seal it again carefully.
5.Shake until the mixture is ice cream, which takes about 5 minutes.
6.Wipe off the top of the small bag, then open it carefully.
7.You can add sprinkles, fruit, dulce de leche or chocolate sauce!
8.Enjoy!

Tips:
A 1/2 cup milk will make about 1 scoop of ice cream, so double the recipe if you want more!
But don't increase the proportions more that that,a large amount might be too big for you to pick-up because the ice itself is heavy.

Values: WHAT IF...?

WHAT IF...?
Dr.Seuss quotes-Quotes about life-Inspirational quotes-kid quotes-if things start happening don't worry don't stress just go right along and you'll start happenings too

1. Let's listen to the story "Jonathan James and The Whatif Monster" by Michelle Nelson-Schmidt.

The whatif Monster plagues little Jonathan James with worry and doubt, and sneaks into his thoughts as he navigates the normal fears of childhood such as making new friends and trying new things.
But in the end, Jonathan overcomes the Whatif Monster and realizes that new things can be wonderful!

2.Sharing your fears through talking, drawing, or writing helps you to express how you feel and provides a wonderful opportunity for dialogue.
I always found that having a safe way to express my worries always made me feel more secure and ready to face them.

While reading Karen Thompson Walker's The Dreamers, I came across the quote, "Worry is a kind of creativity," and it really made me think about worry in a different way. Sure, worrying can be a soul-crushing nightmare at times, but it is kind of cool that I can imagine so many things in my mind that have never (and likely will never) happen. I've always been a worrier (that's what we used to refer to it as back in the day before "anxiety" became a buzzword), and I've always considered it to be a

Let´s make our own Whatif/Worry Monster box who eats our worries.

Making a Worry monster Box is simple!

All you need is a box and something to decorate it with (paper, glue, glitter, stickers, tape, markers, etc)!
You can use empty tissue boxes to make the monster but any box would work as long as you can cut out a mouth.
3. Once your box is complete, anyone can use it by writing or drawing their worries on pieces of paper anonymously and dropping them inside the box.
  • You can draw or writte your own worry cards and feed your worry monster with it. Leave your worry behind, the Whatif Monster will hold it for you!
But remember: you can take your worry back if you ever need it!
  • This is a way to put our worries in a safe place and move on with our day, hopefully feeling more calm and free!
  • You can choose to talk about it or not, leave it in the box or not – but remember you are in control of your worries!
4. Now our worries are safely tucked away, and we can now talk about all the wonderful "what ifs" that might happen, just like in the book!

Will you share your amazing Worry Monster box with me?
